San Diego — In University Towne Center, diners by the end of May should be seeing the opening of the long-awaited Red O, an upscale Mexican-style restaurant taking the space long occupied by Donovan’s before its move last year to the Village of La Jolla. With a kitchen led by Executive Chef Seth Vider and a menu created by Chef Marc Johnson, the venue at 4340 La Jolla Village Drive — within Irvine Co.’s The Plaza office complex — is the fourth Southern California location for Newport Beach-based Red O.

Chula Vista Brewery, owned by local residents Timothy and Dali Parker, recently opened at 294 Third Ave. It is the latest in a growing slate of craft brew stops in the county’s second-largest city, following the previously opened Third Avenue Alehouse and with another being opened soon by Three Punk Ales Brewing Co.

In San Diego’s Linda Vista neighborhood, Capstone Advisors President Alex Zikakis recently announced the signing of six new tenants at the Carlsbad-based company’s recently renovated retail center known as The Presidio, at 5261-5401 Linda Vista Road. The businesses are surfwear retailer Rip Curl, wedding-attire store Luv Bridal, beer delivery service Hopsy, juice purveyor Babe Kombucha, West Coast Veterinary Hospital and boba tea-drink chain Sharetea.
