Irvine Company Leases 1.5 Million Square Feet Since January
As companies return, they desire a workplace partner with agility and the vision to help them navigate the future of work
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (November 16, 2021)— Irvine Company announced today that it has expanded its San Diego team to meet growing demand from companies desiring agile, long-term real estate partners committed to their success and well-being.
Since January, the company has leased nearly 1.5 million square feet throughout its 9 million-square-foot San Diego portfolio, which includes the region’s premier workplaces in Del Mar Heights, La Jolla UTC, Mission Valley, Sorrento Mesa and Downtown.
There are several factors driving the activity, officials said. Irvine Company is on the forefront of workplace wellness, implementing numerous validated wellness protocols to help instill confidence at work. The company is also defining the future of work to support changing workstyles, enhancing outdoor workspaces and offering innovative, flexible lease options through its Flex Workspace+ program.
“Customers recognize the unrivaled value we offer, from our unique, connection-inspiring amenities, to our innovative design to our industry-leading team members, who are dedicated to our customers’ success,” said John Turner, regional vice president, who will lead the expanded team. “Our customers consistently tell us our workplaces are destinations for connection and inspiration that people want to come to.”
In addition to Turner’s expanded role, the San Diego team now includes:
- Vice President of Operations Chris Gash, who most recently served Irvine Company’s Newport Beach customers
- Vice President of Leasing Scott Diggs
- Roles were also expanded for Senior Operations Directors Nicole Ramos and Madalyn Wariner
Irvine Company is 90% leased in San Diego, and continues to experience significant activity with new and existing customers, including Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani and Soloman Ward Seidenwurm & Smith in Downtown. In Del Mar Heights, the company’s most recent submarket expansion, it has leased 140,000 square feet in primarily new deals so far this year. A major reinvestment and transformation of La Jolla Reserve led to pre-leasing of a 92,000-square-foot building to an expanding customer and a total of 165,000 square feet of leasing this year.
The company is the first in the nation to have its offices designated as Verified Healthy Buildings for Indoor Air quality, through a program managed by UL, a global safety science leader. The company also consulted with University of California, Irvine Health to review and enhance its comprehensive workplace wellness program, helping companies come back with confidence. With MERV 13 filters, a comprehensive return planning toolkit and more, Irvine Company has invested in the health and safety of its customers through rapidly evolving times.
Its WiFi-enabled outdoor workspaces offer comfortable places to work and gather, encouraging teams to come back together comfortably. State-of-the-art fitness centers with resort-style locker rooms, strength training and group exercise rooms are also in demand as companies seek new ways to promote wellness. Irvine Company’s workplaces offer premium onsite and nearby dining options and other timesaving amenities that help our customers and their teams get the most out of their workdays.
