All buildings within Irvine Company’s Chicago Collection — One North Wacker, 71 South Wacker and 300 North LaSalle — provide engaging programming that encourages customers to interact with the space and one another. Within this context, One North Wacker takes an active approach to cultivating an energetic workplace community.
The second floor at One North Wacker, The Commons, is not your average workplace lounge. It includes an event space, bar and comfortable areas to eat, work and socialize. The Commons is routinely in use, activating fresh ideas that range from a flower + gift pop-up on Valentine’s Day to the March Madness nacho bar.
According to Property Manager Ja’Net Deason, “At One North, we’re committed on planning the kinds of events and experiences that go beyond the ordinary and the expected. In the process, we see that our customers both appreciate and participate in the opportunities to step briefly outside their workdays. In this way, we can help them feel happy, full and cared about.” It is the behind-the-scene movements of these property managers that improve ambiance and the overall worklife experience, not just their attentive responses and quick turnarounds.
Event planning itself is a collaborative management effort and customer feedback is what helps influence programming at One North Wacker. Ja’Net explains, “There’s nothing like a sports-related happy hour to bring people out in droves! Holiday events are typically well-attended, so we take that opportunity to exceed customer expectations with food, entertainment and décor. We’ve seen success in team-oriented events, like ping pong and corn hole tournaments. We have a deep appreciation for the customers we interact with on a daily basis, so whenever we can acknowledge and reward their hard work, we feel as though we’re fulfilling our mission.”
Ja’Net offers, “Looking forward, we are experimenting with new types of programming, including mindfulness and meditation, to continue pushing the envelope in discovering ways to enhance our customers’ precious time away from their work during the day.”
The Ops team at One North Wacker takes full advantage of the building’s spacious, light-filled interior architecture to ensure programming that keeps customers engaged, energized and refreshed.
